Food stations

On 13 May 2020, HOPE Mallorca opened the first food distribution station in Santanyí and in 2021, there were a total of 8 stations open in Mallorca.

HOPE Mallora currently has 2 fixed distribution stations in Santanyí and Portocolom and distributes food with its HOPE truck in Manacor, Felanitx, El Arenal, Ca’n Picafort, Palma and Cala Bona.

The main objective of this intervention project is to alleviate the hardship of families in the Balearic Islands.

To this end, various measures are implemented to meet the needs of families who have no means and are not entitled to funds or basic food products.

In addition to supporting basic food needs and providing other items such as clothing, hygiene items and furniture, HOPE families also receive information and advice about community resources and social services available in their area so that they can use them for support.

In these stations, weekly sorting of the fruit and vegetables is essentially also carried out, otherwise it will end up in the rubbish. HOPE Mallorca receives these from the Lions Club and mercadona and Aldi.

The food that is in good edibel condition is distributed to the HOPE families, while the food that is not fit for human consumption is given to the farmers to feed to their animals.

THANKS TO ALL VOLUNTEERS FOR YOUR GREAT WORK.
