According to IMAS, there are about 600 families living in illegal self constructed shacks for shelter on Mallorca. In addition, about 150 people live directly on the street.
The main goal of the HOPE Mallorca sponsorship is to prevent people from becoming homeless, explicitly single parents.
These families, working closely with our HOPE Mallorca social worker, are visited weekly. They are provided with food, supported by paying the rent and utilities expenses. The family’s are provided with information and advised about community resources and existing social services in their area.
This support is limited to one year and aims to reintegrate these families into normal working life so that they can become self-sufficient again.
